In recognition of his achievements in family law, Texas Super Lawyers has selected Brousseau, Naftis & Massingill attorney Ron Massingill to its annual list of top attorneys for the 20th year.
Super Lawyers, published by Thomson Reuters, compiles its annual lists based on a patented peer review and research process. They recognize no more than 5 percent of attorneys in each state.
Ron’s previous accolades include spots on The Best Lawyers in America, as well as D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas. He has been rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, the highest level of recognition by the lawyer ratings service, since 2020.
“I don’t think anyone can find an attorney who is as formidable and knowledgeable, and who has the same decades-long track record and years of wisdom as Ron,” said shareholder and fellow family lawyer Elayna Naftis Erick. “He’s a force in the courtroom, at the negotiating table, and in the community.”
An active participant in the Hood County community, Ron serves as Hood County Judge, on the Hood County Juvenile Board, the Hood County Bail Bond Board, as treasurer of the Hood County Hospital District Board, and Hood County director of emergency management. He also supports local law enforcement and hosts an annual elk chili lunch for Hood County law enforcement officers at his ranch.
Within the legal profession, Ron is a life fellow of the State Bar of Texas Foundation and has been admitted to practice before the Texas Supreme Court for more than 50 years. As a former member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Ron is also committed to community service work that helps veterans.
Despite his auspicious standing in the legal and civic communities, Ron jokes that in high school, he was voted most likely to need a lawyer, not be one. He was the first member of his family to attend college, and ultimately graduated magna cum laude with a B.B.A. before continuing to law school at Southern Methodist University.
