Brousseau Naftis & Massingill’s Arianna Smith has joined the Annette Stewart American Inn of Court, an invitation-only, Dallas-based association of lawyers, judges and legal professionals working in family law.
American Inns of Court are dedicated to the promotion of excellence and professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills within the legal community. Smith had previously been a member of Austin’s Barbara Jordan American Inn of Court.
“Being a member of an Inn of Court gives lawyers and judges a time to discuss — in the case of the Annette Stewart Inn of Court — family law issues on a broad, high level, including emerging issues,” Arianna says. “It is also a tremendous opportunity to benefit from mentoring from more experienced lawyers and judges. Ultimately, it’s about lawyers learning from each other and promoting professionalism and civility in the legal community.”
The Annette Stewart American Inn of Court is named for the first woman in Dallas County to become a district judge initially by election, rather than appointment. She later became the first woman to serve on Dallas’ Fifth District Court of Appeals. Judge Stewart, who retired in 1992, died in 2020.
